Review of “Yargo” by Jacqueline Susann

I came across this book while researching most popular sci-fi erotica out there. It was published in the 1970s, written in 1959. And surprisingly, it is NOT erotica!

Well, not how I would define erotica. There are no sex scenes, only a whole lot of yearning by a woman falling in love. It is a great story, though, and well worth a read. I think my favourite thing is the humour. Told in first person point of view, the story makes you fall in love with the main character, a woman who is kidnapped by aliens and taken to their planet, where she meets their charismatic leader. She is an incredibly believable kidnap victim, and her reactions are as genuine as if she had really lived through such an experience. I love her commentary on our world and the things that are wrong with it, as well as things that are right.

I could not buy this lovely book on Kindle, so had to find a place where I could read it online, by joining a club and then borrowing it. But you can look for it here, to start with:
